Jorge Katz nació en Buenos Aires, Argentina en 1940. Licenciado en Economía Política en la Universidad de Buenos Aires y Doctorado en Economía Política en Balliol y Nuffield College, Universidad de Oxford, Inglaterra, con una disertación titulada “Funciones de Producción, Inversión Extranjera y Crecimiento” que fue publicado por el North Holland Publishing Company en 1969.

Ha sido Profesor Titular de Economía Industrial en la Universidad de Buenos Aires (1968-1992) y Profesor de cursos de postgrado en Tecnología e Innovación en la Universidad de Chile.

Ha publicado diversos trabajos sobre el tema de tecnología y reestructuración industrial en Latinoamérica y sobre temas relacionados con la estructura y comportamiento del sector salud.

Jorge Katz was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1940. He received a First Degree in Economics at the University of Buenos Aires and completed his Doctorate at Balliol College, Oxford in 1967 with a dissertation entitled «Production Functions, Foreign Investment and Growth» which was published by North Holland Publishing Company in 1969. He has been Professor on Industrial Economics at the University of Buenos Aires during the period 1968-1992. He also teaches a Graduate Course on Technology and Innovation at the University of Chile. He has published extensively both on the subject of Technology and Industrial Restructuring in Latin America and also on Issues related to the Structure and Behavior on the Health Sector.
