Javiera Selman is an assistant professor in the Department of Economics (DECON) at the School of Economics and Business of the Universidad de Chile. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from New York University and a Master’s degree in Economics from the ILADES-Georgetown University program. Before joining DECON, she was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Economics and the Murphy Institute at Tulane University.

Her research is in applied microeconomics, with a focus on urban and public economics. Her recent work studies take-up barriers in rental voucher programs, discrimination in the housing market, and the direct and indirect effects of housing policy. She currently teaches Introduction to Microeconomics and Quantitative Methods I.
